Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: What are the educational and career experiences that have made you into the fabulous and successful CEO that you are today?

Nadia Bilchik: I have anchored and hosted feature programs for CNN International, CNN Airport Network and MNet Television (South Africa) and reported for CNN Weekend.  I also am currently the Editorial Producer for CNN’s Weekend Morning program.

I received a Licentiate in Speech and Drama from Trinity College, London, and Bachelor of Arts degree majors in Drama and English from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Tell us your favorite example of how you Lead, Provide, and Create in your professional and/or personal world!

Nadia Bilchik: One of my favorite examples is the philosophy behind my latest book: Own Your Space: A Woman’s Guide to Polish, Poise & Empowerment.  This book was inspired by the cornerstone of all my training and speaking which is giving you the tips, tools and techniques to come across with confidence, competence and charisma.  But you need to start with your mindset, your attitude and your relationship with yourself.  That’s why the first chapter of the book is all about Owning Your Headspace.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Being the CEO of your world can take many forms (for example, volunteering in your community, holding a formal corporate position, engaging in creative pursuits, or being a reliable mom/sister/daughter).  In your opinion, what is the best way to achieve success and to become the boss of your world?

Nadia Bilchik: I truly believe that success is different for every person depending on your priorities and your stage of life. The only advice I can give you is to give up on the idea of perfection and celebrate your unique strengths and capabilities. I practice a technique that I call “thought stopping” and that is whenever I start second guessing or criticizing myself I literally tell myself to STOP and I replace the negative thought with something POSITIVE, something that is going well in my life.  Once again if you are going to be CEO or the BOSS of your world, you first have be in control of your thinking.  I call this your INNERVERSE, because before you can be in control of your outer world, you need to be in control of your inner world.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Any additional advice you can share with motivated ladies with high aspirations?

Nadia Bilchik: Learn to light a F.I.R.E.:

F: Focus on exuding confidence and Feeling good about yourself.

I: Show genuine INTEREST in others and practice INTENTIONAL Networking

R: Relax and Recognize what STOPS you achieving your potential

E: Engage each and every day with ENERGY, EXCITEMENT & ENTHUSIASM
