Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Hi La’Tasha, thank you for joining me today! What are the specific educational and career experiences that have made you into the fabulous and successful CEO that you are today?

La’Tasha Givens, On-Air Host: Thanks, Kathryn! I graduated from Eastern Michigan University. From there I became an executive assistant while launching my own public relations company. During my work in PR I enjoyed planning events for clients, creating media kits and writing scripts for broadcast. After two years, I decided to focus solely on journalism. I have had the benefit of being both an employee with limited responsibilities and CEO who is responsible for everything. I think those combined experiences throughout my career helped shape the professional I am today.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: So true! Today’s CEOs need multiple skill sets and the ability to manage themselves as well as others.

On ShesHerOwnCEO.com, we often talk about how one can best Lead, Provide, and Create™. Each of us, in our respective world, has opportunities to Lead Ourselves, to Provide for Others, and Create for the Larger World.

La’Tasha, please share with me your favorite example of how you Lead, Provide, and Create™ in your professional and/or personal world!

La’Tasha Givens, On-Air Host: I believe leading yourself means a commitment to continued personal and professional development. Through that, we provide or offer the best version of our self to the world. When we do that, we create safe yet motivating spaces for others to do the same.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Being the CEO of your world can take many forms (for example, engaging in creative pursuits or being a reliable mom/sister/daughter). In your opinion, what are the best ways to achieve success and to become the boss of your world?

La’Tasha Givens, On-Air Host: Kerry Washington once said, “You can be the lead in your own life.” We all have a center of influence. We all have people who admire and depend on us for different things. I believe when you are truly grateful for the life you have, you’re able to rise to the occasion that the life you want requires.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Any additional advice you have for motivated, aspirational professionals?

La’Tasha Givens, On-Air Host: Stop doubting yourself and just do it. Do whatever it is that comes to mind when you read this. You have everything you need right now for this time in your journey to get to the next phase. This will be true for every part of your journey.

Kathryn Brooks, She’s Her Own CEO®: Thank you for sharing your professional perspectives, La’Tasha!
